“Nick and Rapid Excavating do an excellent job. They went above and beyond what I expected. I have used them several times. They have done dirt work, a gravel driveway, and recently replaced the main water line. When the last job was completed, my yard looked better than it did before. They do everything possible to save the home owner money and get the job done correctly. I had three contractors look at my problem and bid the job. Nick did the most in-depth assessment of the water line issue. The other contractors were going to jackhammer my patio and basement walls, but Nick was able to make the repair without any damage to my concrete. I highly recommend Nick and his team. I will be a lifelong customer.”
“I can't say enough good things about my experience with this company. Nik was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. I came to him with a wide range of unique and challenging projects, and he handled every single one with confidence, efficiency, and attention to detail. Nik is extremely knowledgeable, takes the time to listen, and asks thoughtful questions to ensure everything is done correctly. His professionalism and dedication to quality workmanship really set this company apart.”
Gravel & Dirt Delivery questions, answered
How much does gravel cost delivered near Springfield, MO?
Delivered gravel in our area generally runs in the $30 to $60 per ton range depending on the rock and how far it has to travel, and a tandem load carries roughly 20 tons. Distance from the quarry is usually the biggest swing. Call (417) 838-4892 with your address and we'll give you the delivered number for your material.
How much gravel do I need?
A rough rule: one ton covers about 100 square feet at two inches deep, so a 12 foot wide driveway needs roughly 1.2 tons per 10 feet of length for a topping coat. A new driveway also needs a compacted base under that, which is where most of the tonnage goes. We'll measure it free, or you can work it out yourself with our gravel calculator guide.
Do you deliver fill dirt and topsoil too?
Yes. Fill dirt for building up low ground and pads, and screened topsoil for finish grading and lawns. Fill dirt is often cheaper than rock and sometimes we have material coming off another job nearby, which brings the price down. Worth asking when you call.
What's your delivery area and is there a minimum load?
We deliver throughout the 50 mile radius around Springfield, including Nixa, Ozark, Republic, Willard, Rogersville, Marshfield, Bolivar, and the Branson and Table Rock lake area. Small orders are possible but the haul is most of the cost on a tiny load, so a single larger delivery is usually better value than several small ones.
Can you spread the gravel, or do you just dump it?
Either way. Plenty of customers want it dumped in a pile and will spread it themselves. If you'd rather it go down right, we can spread, grade, and crown it with the same equipment on the same trip, which costs less than hiring that out separately afterward.
What kind of rock should I use for a driveway?
Usually a compacted base rock underneath with a finish gravel on top. Base rock locks together and carries weight; finish gravel rides smoother and looks better. Using only finish gravel on bare dirt is the single most common reason driveways rut out. Tell us what the drive carries and we'll recommend the combination.
